About Sylvie

I have, through all these years, developed a very unique technique of Batik almost obsessively detailed and hand painted. I work mostly on silk, satin and cotton and produce my own range of home decoration, accessories and fashion as well as creating artworks for Events and on commission.

In 2014 Syl’Batik associated with Congolese tailor LC Collection to propose Fashion sur mesure in Cape Town and a variety of accessories such as the Smart Bags. In 2017-2018 some works are created for young African Designer Masa Mara, Cape Town.

Syl’Batik was invited by artist AnZu (see AnZu : www.123lestimides.net) to create a 6 meters Zeppelin and Fans for the Air Float he designed as part of the Cape Town Carnival « Elemental » on the 14th of March 2015, had a solo exhibition in Paris in May 2015 at the Gallery Catherine Clare, created a stage backdrop for the event « Hétérotopies » in Toulouse, August 2015 and was commissioned for large batik artworks by private clients in Cape Town in 2016. Syl’Batik was invited to the world music festival « Les Escales de Saint Nazaire » to create a Batik installation « Colis supect » in August 2016. She is, for the third consecutive year, guest artist for the Baardskerdersbos Art Route, (www.baardskeerdersbosartroute.co.za) and her works will feature for the March 2017 edition together with works from AnZu and Friday Jibu at resident artist Niel Jonker. Between July and November 2017, Syl’Batik was selected for the Art Graulhet, 1st biennale, had a solo show at the Vertigo and proposed a number of workshops, notably for Dadou en Fête and Travers’art in Tarn, France. Her projects for 2018 included private commissions in Paris, Berlin and Cape Town and an exhibition with artists Guy Du Toit and AnZu for “les Journées du patrimoine”. 2019 will see Syl’Batik exhibited at the Baardskerdersbos Art Route  in April and proposing Batik workshops with the Airbnb Experience plateforme @ her Oude Molen eco Village studo.
